Embark on a transformative journey in this webinar series, where we tackle the complexities of supporting students with diverse needs, strengths, and identities in inclusive learning environments. Through the lens of Universal Design for Learning (UDL), teachers and leaders will dive head first into the many facets of UDL and gain the skills to proactively identify and dismantle barriers in lesson design and instruction that prevent all students from reaching rigorous grade level goals.
Discover how to craft dynamic and flexible learning experiences tailored to every learner, whether they require significant support or crave additional challenge. This webinar series serves as a foundational exploration of UDL, equipping educators with practical tools and strategies to kickstart their journey towards creating authentically inclusive learning environments.
The learning series is an opportunity for teachers, leaders, and staff to dive head first into the many facets of Universal Design for Learning. While a majority of the content will be targeted towards K-12 educators, leaders and staff will find value in understanding how UDL will play a role in their schools and community and discover how UDL can be implemented into personal practices beyond the classroom.
Join the Novak Education team in a 7-part immersive UDL experience. In each session, a UDL expert will take you through a universally designed virtual session so you can see UDL in action as you practice it along the way.
Each session will be posted on the course portal for asynchronous viewing.
At the end of each session, learners will unlock access to accompanying resources to each session's topic. Learners will be able to dive further into each topic on their own schedule and begin implementing strategies into their learning environment right away!
Take time to self-reflect and complete a self-assessment at the end of each session within the course platform (hosted on Thinkific). With completion, each learner will receive a certificate for 8-continuing education hours.
Use the course platform as your guide. Review the materials at any time. Access is available through 2025.
I loved the ability to watch at a later date, as my schedule didn't always allow me to tune in live. I also appreciated hearing from different presenters as a way to get different perspectives. November is usually one of the hardest times of the year teaching (kids are ready for a break, adults are exhausted, the weather is turning), and this series has kept me excited about trying something new at work. It also helped me to conceptualize a better way to reach my ELL students and my students with IEPs.

Join us to uncover the three core beliefs of Universal Design for Learning (UDL) and dive into its transformative principles. Discover how UDL and differentiated instruction work together within a multi-tiered system of support (MTSS) to create dynamic and inclusive learning environments that help all learners reach their highest potential while working toward rigorous grade level goals.

In this session, we will explore the crucial differences between equality and equity, and why inclusion is essential for improving student outcomes. Learn how true inclusive practices go beyond mere inclusion to foster an environment where every student can thrive.

Providing voice and choice to learners is the heart of UDL. But not all choice is created equally. Choice must be carefully designed to ensure that students are still working towards grade-level goals. In this session, we will examine two types of goals and learn how to design choices that are construct relevant to ensure students can make meaningfully progress.

UDL aims to engage each student, encouraging them to take responsibility for their own learning. This session will explore how to use UDL to boost student motivation and self-direction by offering options and choices that foster learner agency and empower students to take charge of their learning.

A UDL lesson plan consists of a firm goal, and flexible methods, materials, and assessments. This session will review the four components of a UDL lesson plan and give teachers an opportunity to identify and define their goals, the methods and materials that they will use to help students reach their goals, and the assessments that will allow each student to show what they know or can do.

UDL Principles are a set of guidelines and checkpoints that can help you reach each student. The three primary principles of Engagement, Representation, and Action and Expression help you redefine your teaching practice by proactively planning for variability and removing barriers to learning. This session will review the UDL principles in more depth and give examples of what they look like in practice.

Assessments are integral to learning, yet not all assessments effectively support students' growth. In UDL, assessments provide every student, regardless of background, language, or skill set, with opportunities to demonstrate their knowledge or skills. This session will explore how to use assessments, feedback and reflection as tools to build learner agency and drive progress.

This course not only gave me the basic concepts of teaching methods and the structure of the educational process, but also inspired me to better understand the needs of students and try to give them a quality education. I think the course was excellent, without unnecessary information. I would like to thank the developers of the course!
