Recently, I had the honor of working with the Teaching Channel to create videos on the nation’s shift to the Common Core.
One message I communicated in these videos was the importance of sharing Common Core standards with students and allowing them to assess a teacher’s effectiveness after each lesson. If we want our students to grow as learners, we need them to reflect on their learning experiences and advocate changes for themselves. We, as teachers, need to be open to this feedback and use it to improve instruction.
